Ahead of the inaugural Melbourne Web Series Festival on 20 July, we’re profiling all 30 series that made the Official Selection list. Next up is Olympia created Hisonni Johnson and Michael Sarnoski.
Olympia, filmed in California, follows the main character Haley Sage through a relatable journey. When Harley Sage decides she wants something more than the life of a farm girl, she lands a dance scholarship at Olympia University, but new surroundings pose fresh problems for an extraordinary girl who can control the wind.
What inspired your series?
We had the desire to show versatility as filmmakers and writers. It would be a real challenge to produce a show for an audience that wasn’t us.
Why should people watch your series?
The story is very good. The actors are incredible and the VFX.
Why make a web series?
I love my fellow content creators. People in the web community are so encouraging and fun. I learn so much from watching everyone else’s work.
