We have a jam-packed program this year; 55 series from 15 countries will be screening at Deakin Edge, Federation Square. Q&As and discussion panels will feature creators and crews, and industry – including ABC iview, Screen Australia and Stan. Our live pitching competition with ABC iview, which has a $5,000 cash prize, will be held during the festival. And, our professional development day features a series of masterclasses at La Trobe University on Collins Street.

The series will be screened over 5 screening blocks on Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 July, and each screening block is followed by Q&As with the creators and crews. So whether you want to re-watch your favourite series on a big screen or be introduced to some great new ones you don’t want to miss it.

Spotlight on Melbourne

Pitch Perfect @ MWF with ABC iview

It’s a great opportunity to pitch your idea for an original web series to a panel of industry professionals, and your pitch could see you win $5,000, take you to Marseille to workshop your idea at a writing residency sponsored by Fox Digital, and it could see your series eventuate on ABC iview.

The competition is free to enter! All you need to do is submit your pitch in 50 words or less under the theme “Anytime, Anywhere” via the Melbourne WebFest website.

The shortlisted submissions will have two minutes on stage during Pitch Perfect on 2 July to pitch their idea and impress the judges and the audience.
Pitches will be judged on script potential, creativity and audience reaction by a panel of judges, which will consist of Rick Kalowski (ABC Head of Comedy), Kevin Mountain (Content Manager, ABC iview), John Cabrera (Gilmore Girls, H+: The Digital Series), Craig Batty (screenwriter/academic) and Steinar Ellingsen (MWF Director). The event will be MC’ed by Heather Maltman (I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, Now!, Unindian).
The winner of Pitch Perfect will be announced at the gala awards ceremony on 3 July.

Hurry submissions close 17 June 5pm AEST.
