Created by Gabriel, Louis and William Chiche, this web series brings to light the works of this century, and what it might lead to.
Today, there are many dating apps and websites online, but nothing as extreme as Osmosis. With constant advancements to technology, do you think the concept of Osmosis could soon become a reality?
Osmosis is pretty real already… The story is happening in a 4 years future- the story relies on today’s algorithm technology which is already guiding our choices regarding online shopping or music playlists, dating partners using the recommendation system. We transposed the data use app world by imagining Osmosis being the future global network which guarantees 100% true love pushing the recommendation to its paroxysm.
What is your favourite thing about making web series?
Osmosis the Series is our very first web series. We could have a lot of freedom in our creation and offer a sci-fi original creation which is quite rare in French TV series. Web Series allows young talent and new narratives to emerge. It was a great opportunity for us to launch ourselves as creators.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome making this series?
Osmosis the series is a 72’ big story- the most challenging aspect of the writing was to install a cliff-hanger system throughout episodes where you could not escape from wanting to follow the storyline with the next episode.
How do you reach your audience?
Osmosis the Series is on Arte Creative which is the digital platform of ARTE, a franco-german public broadcaster dedicated to Culture and tomorrow’s European world reaching 3% market share. Arte Creative reaches a younger audience than ARTE developing a new audience for them through its pop culture line up. We also try to develop our audience via social networks and the international web festival such as Melbourne.
How do you finance your series?
The Broadcaster financed the series and we could add French Subsidies by CNC (Centre national de la cinematography).
When are you completely satisfied with your work?
Hard to say we are completely satisfied… there are always choices we had to make between the time and the budget we are facing but we could say our fans are very reactive and encouraging to our work- the series travels abroad and it is a great satisfaction for us.
If you could travel back in time where would go/what would you do?
We would definitively go to a world where we can keep our free will and where we will still be able to make our own choices even when there a mistakes.
