We have compiled a guide of essentials that your series should have to be web fest worthy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″][heading]

1. Catchy Synopsis

[/heading][vc_column_text]First and foremost, your series needs a story that stands out. You may have a concept that isn’t new, and that’s cool but find a new way to tell it (just no more stories about struggling actors trying to make it in a big city, PLEASE). Sum it all up in three sentences. Keep it simple but reveal just enough to get the selectors excited about your series before they’ve even seen it.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][image_with_animation image_url=”6917″ alignment=”center” animation=”Fade In”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″][heading]

 2. Build an Online Community

[/heading][vc_column_text]When a festival looks into your series they want to find multiple social media channels, additional content, an environment that builds on the story and draws in the audience. They don’t want just a couple of videos on a non-descript YouTube page. Creating a brand and online community is a necessity even before you release your series to the public. We accept series that are yet to be released and we love to see the makings of multiplatform content.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][image_with_animation image_url=”6918″ alignment=”center” animation=”Fade In”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″][heading]

 3. Don’t Forget about Sound!

[/heading][vc_column_text]Ever been able to sit through a series with barely audible dialogue, or one that is only dialogue and no background track? Probably not, a good atmosphere track, clear audio and some original music will always make your series better, and therefore more likely to be web fest worthy.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][image_with_animation image_url=”6919″ alignment=”center” animation=”Fade In”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″][heading]

 4. Do Something Unexpected

[/heading][vc_column_text]Selectors go through a lot of series. Just so many series. Something has to get their attention, it could be an unlikely character or setting, an exciting use of multiple platforms or adding a transmedia element.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][image_with_animation image_url=”6920″ alignment=”center” animation=”Fade In”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″][heading]

5. SUBMIT

[/heading][vc_column_text]It is just impossible to be selected if you don’t actually submit your series. You’ve planned, you’ve produced, you’ve edited, you’ve marketed; the hard work is done and your series has begun its life online. Now to give it that extra push, reach a wider, international audience, be acknowledged and awarded for your work. Submit that master piece now.

Fortunately, Melbourne WebFest 2017 submissions are still open. Submit your series before midnight Wednesday 30 November (AEST) and take advantage of our Early Bird prices.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″][image_with_animation image_url=”6921″ alignment=”center” animation=”Fade In” img_link=”https://filmfreeway.com/festival/MelbourneWebFest?utm_campaign=Submission+Button&utm_medium=External&utm_source=Submission+Button”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
