Peddle Thorp People’s Choice poll open

The audience poll for our People’s Choice Award is now live.

All of our Official Selections are nominated for this award and the winner of will receive a $1,000 cash prize, in addition to the famous MWF statuette, and other goodies.

You can vote for one or several of your favourite series, and the poll closes at midnight on 10 July (AEST).

The award is kindly sponsored by Peddle Thorp — an independent company, practising in Architecture, Planning and Interior Design.

Award show hosts: Aunty Donna

Aunty Donna, Melbourne’s iconic comedy trio, hold a special legacy in our festival, winning an award in our first edition of the Melbourne WebFest in 2013. The lads have gone from strength to strength, from single-handedly launching their comedy career on YouTube three years ago, to completely selling out their shows in the Forum theatre this past season of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

 To catch Aunty Donna at the festival this year, be sure to attend the “Millions are Watching” Panel, which features Zach Ruane, and the Gala Awards Night, where all three of our favourite funny-men will be hosting! It’s tipped to be the craziest night of the festival, and things are only set to get wilder at the After Party.

Keynote speakers: Nick Boshier and the Van Vuuren Brothers

We are delighted to have these three immensely talented guys deliver our keynote on opening night this year. The video went viral and attracted almost 1 million hits, as well as an acknowledgment from the World Health Organisation who asked him to use his newfound status in promoting World Tuberculosis Day. In response, Van Vuuren produced more riotous content to alleviate his experience in isolation, and upon his release in 2010 has continued to entertain us.
